Buy Your Spring Native Plants On-line
On May 16, check the Jepson Chapter homepage or Facebook page for the link to our on-line inventory of native plants available to purchase for your spring-time gardening. Customers will be able to see photos, descriptions, container sizes and quantities of the plants available for purchase and pay on-line with a credit card. The sale ends at the close of business on May 21. Customers must agree to pick up their plants on May 23 from noon to 2:00 PM at Heritage Presbyterian Chuch, 1400 East Second Street in Benicia. Volunteers will be available to load your order into your vehicle.
Nearly 600 plants will be available for sale, first-come first served. Prices are $4 for 4-inch containers and $8 for large containers. All plants are grown at the Chapter's native plant nursery in Vallejo.
The COVID-19 public health emergency caused the Jepson Chapter Board to cancel the April 25 plant sale. Since that time, members of the Plant Sale Committee (Barbara Reiley, Kathleen Catton, Pam Muick and Steven Goetz) have been working on an on-line alternative that would be safe for our customers to use this Spring. The Board is particularly grateful to the Society's state office which provided critical assistance in setting up the software that will track plant orders.
The Jepson Board realizes that this on-line plant sale does not work as well as a physical plant sale for many of us. We considered providing home delivery but we do not have enough volunteers to coordinate and provide that service. We considered providing a second pick-up point in Fairfield, but the software does not easily accommodate a second pick-up location. We considered continuing our past practice of including sales tax in our prices, but the software does not allow this.
One feature of this web-based sale that you may like is that Chapter members will have access to the on-line sale two days before the general public. Chapter members who accept CNPS emails should look for an email from us on May 14 which will include a special link to the webpage for the plant sale.
You can email any questions you have on the on-line plant sale to contact@jepson.cnps.org. Also mark you calendars for the Fall Native Plant Sale, which is scheduled for October 10, 2020, by then we hope to overcome the obstacles to a physical plant sale.

Inventory at the Jepson Chapter native plant nursery in Vallejo awaits the start of the on-line Spring Native Plant Sale, which begins on May 16 and ends on May 21.
